Watching a shuttle launch

30 Nov

221039main_shuttle_opsEver since I was a kid I have wanted to see the shuttle launch. So I’ve asked my wife to make that my birthday present this year. Trouble is, a shuttle launch is not easily predicted. NASA  routinely postpones the launch due to weather and all kinds of technical issues. So you may have to spend a week or more in Florida, or try multiple times to see the launch. Right now, I think we are shooting for January or February. Any advice?

I’ve had the same dream of seeing a launch too! I think we are going to try next year 2009. I’ve heard a night launch is very amazing to see, but like you said the schedule is so unpredictable.
We will probably aim for a launch during a month that has moderate weather (summer?).

Also I think the shuttles are being decommissioned soon 2009 may be the last year they launch?

Good read. I have made a twitter post about this. Hope others find it as interesting as I did.
